2012 Graph Expo Provides Plenty for Print Professionals
Hundreds of professionals from around the world working in the graphic communications industry gathered in Chicago, Illinois, this past October for Graph Expo 2012. Graph Expo is “the largest and most comprehensive exhibition and conference for the graphic communications industry in the Americas,” according to their website.
With over 50 seminars, Graph Expo has something for everyone. Attendees had to quickly sign up for a spot in the popular Mac lab seminars with instructors providing hands-on tutorials for various software applications. Registered attendees were able to pick and choose their seminars, for a fee. They certainly had plenty of options with seminars focused on cloud computing, entrepreneurship, workflow, printable electronics, and more.
Before the four-day conference and exhibition starts, the annual Executive Outlook Conference is a popular start for attendees. According to their website, the conference “provides economic and marketing information, technological reports, and print trends and forecasts designed to help visitors gain the greatest benefit from their attendance at the show.” This conference focused on the theme “Using Marketing and Technology to Innovate and Thrive” and had Jeffrey Hayzlett as the keynote speaker. He spoke about making changes to your business in order to grow and succeed in a volatile and competitive environment.
The floor plan itself was a highlight from Graph Expo. The Green Space area was just for environment-friendly exhibitors focused on sustainability. The newspaper pavilion and the marketing pavilion were hubs for networking. Education Main Street was home for representatives from various colleges and universities and internship-hopeful students. Two new additions to the floor plan at Graph Expo were the InPlant Place and the CPP Zone. The InPlant Place was a hub for InPlant professionals in the government, corporate, and education industries. The CPP Zone was a converting area that complimented “the growth of package printing exhibitors, technologies and offerings that are expanding across the show floor!”
This year’s conference will be held in the same place, McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, September 8–12, 2013. This conference will not be called Graph Expo. It will be called Print 13. That is not the only difference. This conference will be two conferences in one, because the CPP Expo will be co-headlining along with Print 2013. Attendees and exhibitors can register now at either website.
