Nominated and selected by a committee, Craig Vanderwall Jr. is one of the candidates for this year’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society 2012 Man of the Year title.
Involved in the competition to earn the title, Vanderwall is raising money for blood cancer research. The 10 week campaign includes the support of corporate sponsorships, online giving, a kickoff celebration, a mid point event and a grand finale gala.
A wine and scotch tasting was held at YOLO Event Center as the kickoff event, with a Sunday at Club Soda event, complete with cocktails and dinner, following up as the mid point event in March.
“We had about 100 people and raised quite a bit of money. It was a very fun evening and we had an excellent turnout,” Vanderwall said.
Participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2012 Man of the Year Campaign was a personal project for Vanderwall, who is a kidney disease survivor himself and has had family members and friends who have been affected by blood cancer.
“It was a worthwhile cause for me to get involved,” he said.
